2008 pie making firsts: One for Thanksgiving one for Christmas. Granted I only made the filling from scratch but pie crusts are more than I wanted to attempt and I don't normally like them and they remain on the plate. So, pie crusts are store bought and I like them ( go figure). The purpose of the post is to share a tradition that my paternal grandma past on to me. She told me to always carve the initial of your last name in your pie crust as the ventilation holes. And because I was making up for the store bought crusts I did a little extra and loved it! So next time you have a pie to bake grab a tooth pick and draw a little and save some scraps and add a little something.
